Nesseria «Cette Érosion De Nous-Mêmes»October 6th 2017 • LP, DIGITAL • THRT065
Orleans' NESSERIA have been one of France's most consistent power since their inception in 2003, perfecting their massive, grinding metallic hardcore over two full-lengths and several splits. For their third album the band went back to the same collaborators - "Cette Erosion De Nous-Mêmes" was recorded and mixed by Neb Xort at Drudenhaus Studio (Aluk Todolo, Anorexia Nervosa, etc…), mastered by Nick Zampiello (Converge, Gaza, Cave In…) and illustrated by Alex Eckman-Lawn (Maruta, Krieg, Hacride…) - but marks a departure from their previous body of work.
While their trademark steamrolling style is still there with grindcore and black metal-influenced tracks ("Forteresse", "Dans L'Ombre Et Sans Visage"), tracks such as "Les Ruines" or "À L'Usure" bring something new to the table, as "Cette Erosion De Nous-Mêmes" is the closest representation of the band's wide scope of influences (screamo, folk, shoegaze…). NESSERIA's sound brilliantly evolves by putting an emphasis on their more emotional, atmospheric side, without ever giving an inch on their abrasive tendencies.

PYRRHON «What Passes For Survival»August 11th 2017 • LP, DIGITAL • THRT064
Continuing to shapeshift and unravel, while using unorthodox songwriting techniques that border on the incomprehensible, avant-garde extreme metal quartet PYRRHON return with What Passes For Survival.
Dense, volatile, and drenched in manic ferocity, What Passes For Survival is an aural challenge that refuses to adhere to genre conventions, merging strategic orchestrated bursts of death metal chaos with expanses of unhinged improvisation.
The latest stage of PYRRHON’s metamorphosis is one that demands repeated audio submersion from the listener, and satisfies those craving sonic extremity that pushes limits.

Birds In Row «Collected»April 15th 2012 (repress : July 21th 2017) • LP, CD, Digital • THRT021
BIRDS IN ROW make hardcore punk with an utterly anthemic vibe. Vocals seethe with realness while a burly rhythm section pounds out a bulletproof, mid-tempo foundation worthy of Young Widows or Sweet Cobra. Much like Ghostlimb, BIRDS IN ROW convey lifetimes’ worth of emotion without ever sounding weak. The heart is laid bare but the spine is intact. Collected consists of the entire Rise of the Phoenix 7” and Cottbus EP, plus the first song the band ever recorded, “Phoenix”, which has not seen the light of day until now. All music on Collected was recorded by Amaury Sauvé at La Senelle Studio in their hometown of Laval, France, and mastered by Sylvain Biguet.

Comity «A Long, Eternal Fall»May 26th 2017 • 2xLP, CD, Digital • THRT060
Despite releasing forward-thinking records that have pushed the boundaries of noisy, technical hardcore, Parisian band COMITY has remained one of France's best kept secret since their formation 20 years ago. The band entered the studio during fall 2016 with producer Fred Rochette to track "A Long, Eternal Fall", their fourth album. These eight tracks are the band's most definitive musical statement to date, more extreme than the grinding madness of their early days and more massive than the aerial, post-metal leanings of their two previous release, showcasing their love for all things dissonant.

Future Faces «Revolt»May 26th 2017 • 12"EP, Digital • THRT061
On their debut EP "Revolt", Switzerland's FUTURE FACES delivers some glacial post-punk of the gloomiest order, with a level of mastery rarely heard on a band's first recording. Formed in 2015 in Geneva by members of Equus and Elizabeth, the three-piece aims for a timeless, personal sound, devoid of any soulless revivalism.
Mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Nails, Beastmilk, Okkultokrati…), these four tracks find the perfect balance between the clean and the noisy. With hypnotic drums, abyssal bass lines, elegant yet unpolished guitar work and reverb-drenched vocals, each track is a lesson in stand-out songwriting. "Revolt" is a slow descension into a lightless, enveloping sound, and the birth certificate of a band that is nothing but full of promises.

direwolves «The Great Year»May 26th 2017 • 12"EP, CD, DIGITAL • THRT063
Three years after their debut album "Aegri Somnia", Lorient, France's DIREWOLVES return with "The Great Year". This new six tracks EP focuses on the more energetic facet of their sound, refining the band's revigorating blend of melodic crust and screamo-influenced hardcore. Recorded & mixed by Guillaume Doussaud at Swan Sound Studios (Amanda Woodward, Aussitôt Mort…), mastered by Dan Coutant at Sun Room Studios (Coliseum, The Sword, Jawbox…) and with artwork once again designed by Førtifem, "The Great Year" is another implacable display of the band's abrasive yet anthemic vision of punk/hardcore.

fange «Pourrissoir»March 17th 2017 • 12", CD, Digital • THRT062
A mere few months after the release of their debut album "Purge", french degenerate sludge quartet FANGE maintains their devouring fire with these six new tracks. With strong visual and lyrical ties to its predecessor, "Pourrissoir" marks the closing of a chapter for the band, while standing both as their most punishing work and as a step outside their comfort zone.
This time showcasing a colder approach in songwriting and production, their appeal for all things gritty gives character to their metallic sludgecore, leaning towards chuggy death metal, noise rock-infused slow-burners or harsh noise. With a now triple-vocal attack and a bigger emphasis on the ear-drilling side of their sound, "Pourrissoir" and its hammering wall of sound - once again captured by KKP in their hometown of Rennes - is one more proof of the band's unending thirst for unpleasant, gut-punching sounds.

satan «Un Deuil Indien»February 17th 2017 • LP, Digital • THRT059
Aptly self-labelled as "possessed punk", the sound of SATAN translates into a crude, glacial approach that nails both extreme punk and second-wave black metal vibes. Founded in 2009 in Grenoble, France, the band has since released several splits as well as one full-length, 2015's "L'Odeur Du Sang".
Mixed and mastered by Today Is The Day's mastermind Steve Austin, their punishing second album "Un Deuil Indien" (An Indian Mourning) is another departure from the band's previous works. While still going straight to the point - barely clocking at 17 minutes - with blizzard-like riffs and drumming, the pared-down production shows SATAN at its rawest form. A feeling reinforced by the vicious, more articulated vocal delivery, highlighting absinthe-fueled, surrealist proses. Corrosive yet surprisingly anthemic, minimalist yet deep in sound and meaning, "Un Deuil Indien" is a record built on contrasts behind its apparent frightening savagery.

VIOLENT MAGIC ORCHESTRA «Catastrophic Anonymous»December 2nd 2016 • LP, Digital • THRT058
VIOLENT MAGIC ORCHESTRA is an unique project comprised of dark techno prodigy Paul Régimbeau (Mondkopf, Extreme Precautions, Autrenoir), Japanese experimental black metal collective Vampillia and noise master Pete Swanson (ex-Yellow Swans). Their ten-tracks debut album "Catastrophic Anonymous" features vocal contributions from Attila Csihar (Sunn o))), Mayhem) and Chip King (The Body).
VMO's overall sound is a multi-headed beast that can't be pitched in a single line. "Catastrophic Anonymous" roots are indubitably those of a harsh record, with expansive black metal guitars powered by Extreme Precautions-style glitchy textures & brain-melting drum machine work as well as Pete Swanson's noisy soundscapes. Then it also covers a wide range of genres - flirting with industrial techno, post-rock or drone - while always sounding effortlessly natural. Mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, Atomsmasher) and illustrated by french artist Metastazis, "Catastrophic Anonymous" is the fruit of boundary-pushing people, and a refreshing, spectacular experience.
— Vocals on tracks 5, 6 & 8 by Chip King

COWARDS «Still»December 2nd 2016 • 12"EP, Digital • THRT057
Far from resting on the laurels earned with their monumental second full-length, 2015's "Rise To Infamy", Paris most nothing COWARDS keep it busy with "Still". This brand new EP gather all their abilities - the sharpest riffing, the vilest grooves - on side A, with three tracks between thuggish sludge, unmoshable hardcore and knife-fighting black metal. Side B features two life-crushing covers (The Police "Every Breath You Take" and The Horrorist "One Night In NYC") in the grand COWARDS tradition, recorded during the Rise To Infamy sessions.
Once again produced by Francis Caste at Sainte Marthe Studios and illustrated by Camille Blanchemain, "Still" crowns these full-time lonewolves as one of the most focused, major acts in today's metallic hardcore realm. Played by and for people who have strictly zero concern about fitting in any scene, ever.

Vermin Womb «Decline»October 28th 2016 • LP, CD, Digital • THRT056
"Formed from the ashes of Clinging To The Trees Of A Forest Fire by vocalist/guitarist Ethan McCarthy (also of Primitive Man and Withered) and bassist Zach Harlan, Denver, Colorado's VERMIN WOMB appeared on many a radar with their 2014 EP "Permanence". While the band’s debut album "Decline" marks the arrival of ex-CTTTOAFF JP Damron on drumming duties, these ten tracks sound nothing like a return to form, as the band managed to be faster, uglier and heavier than ever.
VERMIN WOMB’s brand of ultra brutality gives no quarter, enhancing their no-bullshit grinding death metal with dissonant death/black murkiness, war metal savagery and sludgy breakdowns. With McCarthys’s trademark subterranean barks, raw-sounding blast beats and imperial riffs bolstered by Dave Otero’s thick production, Decline is one of these short albums designed for maximum impact. If you ever wondered how extreme metal would sound like once purged of any unnecessary artifices, here’s your answer."

Fange «Purge»September 2nd 2016 • LP, CD, Digital • THRT055
Founded in 2013 in Rennes (western France) by Huata’s bassist B.Moreau with the will of pushing sludge in its more abrasive, mind-numbing corners, FANGE’s debut EP «Poisse» revealed a band with an uncommon take of the genre. Re-appropriating the classic Swedish death metal sound with detours to harsh noise, crust or metallic hardcore, the band now fully realize their sound on their first album «Purge», strengthened by a new line-up that features drummer B.Louvet and vocalist M.Jungbluth (Calvaiire).
With only one guitar throwing out monstrous HM-2 fueled riffs, stomach-kicking yet versatile drum work and bile-gargling, mutilated vocals, «Purge» marks a filthier turn in the band’s uncompromising wall of sound. Entirely recorded by KKP (Abjvration, Huata, Ataraxie…) and enhanced by ear-piercing layers of noise, these six tracks are an exhausting aural experience. This is ignorant music for the Educated Man. For fans of : irrational feelings of guilt, Tom G.Warrior vocal gimmicks, body negativity.
