"On their debut EP "Revolt", Switzerland's FUTURE FACES delivers some glacial post-punk of the gloomiest order, with a level of mastery rarely heard on a band's first recording. Formed in 2015 in Geneva by members of Equus and Elizabeth, the three-piece aims for a timeless, personal sound, devoid of any soulless revivalism.
Mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Nails, Beastmilk, Okkultokrati…), these four tracks find the perfect balance between the clean and the noisy. With hypnotic drums, abyssal bass lines, elegant yet unpolished guitar work and reverb-drenched vocals, each track is a lesson in stand-out songwriting. "Revolt" is a slow descension into a lightless, enveloping sound, and the birth certificate of a band that is nothing but full of promises."

fange «Pourrissoir»March 17th 2017 · 12", CD, Digital · THRT062
"A mere few months after the release of their debut album "Purge", french degenerate sludge quartet FANGE maintains their devouring fire with these six new tracks. With strong visual and lyrical ties to its predecessor, "Pourrissoir" marks the closing of a chapter for the band, while standing both as their most punishing work and as a step outside their comfort zone.
This time showcasing a colder approach in songwriting and production, their appeal for all things gritty gives character to their metallic sludgecore, leaning towards chuggy death metal, noise rock-infused slow-burners or harsh noise. With a now triple-vocal attack and a bigger emphasis on the ear-drilling side of their sound, "Pourrissoir" and its hammering wall of sound - once again captured by KKP in their hometown of Rennes - is one more proof of the band's unending thirst for unpleasant, gut-punching sounds."

satan «Un Deuil Indien»February 17th 2017 · LP, Digital · THRT059
"Aptly self-labelled as "possessed punk", the sound of SATAN translates into a crude, glacial approach that nails both extreme punk and second-wave black metal vibes. Founded in 2009 in Grenoble, France, the band has since released several splits as well as one full-length, 2015's "L'Odeur Du Sang".
Mixed and mastered by Today Is The Day's mastermind Steve Austin, their punishing second album "Un Deuil Indien" (An Indian Mourning) is another departure from the band's previous works. While still going straight to the point - barely clocking at 17 minutes - with blizzard-like riffs and drumming, the pared-down production shows SATAN at its rawest form. A feeling reinforced by the vicious, more articulated vocal delivery, highlighting absinthe-fueled, surrealist proses. Corrosive yet surprisingly anthemic, minimalist yet deep in sound and meaning, "Un Deuil Indien" is a record built on contrasts behind its apparent frightening savagery."

VIOLENT MAGIC ORCHESTRA «Catastrophic Anonymous»December 2nd 2016 · LP, Digital · THRT058
"VIOLENT MAGIC ORCHESTRA is an unique project comprised of dark techno prodigy Paul Régimbeau (Mondkopf, Extreme Precautions, Autrenoir), Japanese experimental black metal collective Vampillia and noise master Pete Swanson (ex-Yellow Swans). Their ten-tracks debut album "Catastrophic Anonymous" features vocal contributions from Attila Csihar (Sunn o))), Mayhem) and Chip King (The Body).
VMO's overall sound is a multi-headed beast that can't be pitched in a single line. "Catastrophic Anonymous" roots are indubitably those of a harsh record, with expansive black metal guitars powered by Extreme Precautions-style glitchy textures & brain-melting drum machine work as well as Pete Swanson's noisy soundscapes. Then it also covers a wide range of genres - flirting with industrial techno, post-rock or drone - while always sounding effortlessly natural. Mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, Atomsmasher) and illustrated by french artist Metastazis, "Catastrophic Anonymous" is the fruit of boundary-pushing people, and a refreshing, spectacular experience."
— Vocals on tracks 5, 6 & 8 by Chip King
— Vocals on track 4 by Attila Csihar
— Mixed by Paul Régimbeau

COWARDS «Still»December 2nd 2016 · 12"EP, Digital · THRT057
"Far from resting on the laurels earned with their monumental second full-length, 2015's "Rise To Infamy", Paris most nothing COWARDS keep it busy with "Still". This brand new EP gather all their abilities - the sharpest riffing, the vilest grooves - on side A, with three tracks between thuggish sludge, unmoshable hardcore and knife-fighting black metal. Side B features two life-crushing covers (The Police "Every Breath You Take" and The Horrorist "One Night In NYC") in the grand COWARDS tradition, recorded during the Rise To Infamy sessions.
Once again produced by Francis Caste at Sainte Marthe Studios and illustrated by Camille Blanchemain, "Still" crowns these full-time lonewolves as one of the most focused, major acts in today's metallic hardcore realm. Played by and for people who have strictly zero concern about fitting in any scene, ever."
